Simply Scrapping Copic Classes

Simply Scrapping copic classes by Lisa Futch begins Feb. 16th.

The classes are online. There are 4 levels. Right now, beginners and intermediate classes begin Feb. 16th. The beginner class was GREAT! You can see little glimpses of beginners if you scroll down my blog.

Cary Table Scrapbookers SVG class

I went to a class at Jen’s for a SCAL class. (Sure Cuts A Lot). It is a program for cutting out almost anything on the cricut without the use of cartridges. With any cricut cartridge in, you can cut from your computer. The item you cut is not on that cartridge, but from a SVG file. The class was great. She broke it down into small cohesive segments and the pulled it all together in a short, simple activity. I have taken 2 – 3 other classes and left thinking I knew what to do. When I got home, I was clueless! NOT this class. The next day, I was cutting things out! The following weekend, I bought a SVG file and BAM…… cut it out, and put it together. GREAT class Jen! This svg file came from: http://www.creationsbyar.com/HAUTE-TOTE-TEMPLATE_p_8.html The templates, svg files, and directions are great. Very easy to follow and cut out perfect!

Creating Space with Copics Class

This is another copic class I’m taking.

This week she is teaching about atmospheric looks of a picture or levels of a picture. It is a artistic way of looking at what you are coloring. It is not so much about the copic markers as it is the look of the over all view of the picture. I really like it so far. It has made me look at the whole process differently. Again, this class is different from other copic classes I have taken and I really like the different approach. Learn…. Learn…. Learn….

First attempt. Don’t look so much at my coloring inside the line skills. *laugh*. Look more so at the over all attempt of the background, what is closer, what is closer than that…. and what is the closest and the coloring of those levels of depth of the picture items. Hopefully, that makes a little sense. Her video was great at explaining it. So, for more information, look her classes up from her blog. Here is our first assignment:

Archivers Card Class

This was one of the BEST Archivers classes I’ve been to and the instructor was absolutely AWESOME! The class products was by Hero Arts and the title of the class was “Painted Petals”. Did I say awesome? The cards are beautiful. They look very complicated, but broken down by the instructor, Lisa was very simple. Here are the cards:

Snowman in January

It has been a cold…brrrr… winter so far. Today has been a major change. I’d guess it is high 50′s today. Those of you that know me, know I LOVE the cold weather, so today is way too warm. So, to cool things down here, I colored a snowman! Remember, I’m learning!

Copic Class

Before the online class I took some classes with Jen, at Cary Table Scrapbookers (meetup.com). If you are interested in scrapbooking or classes, it is definitely the place to be. I don’t do a lot of the scrapbooking events (lack of time), but I do jump on some of the classes. I guess we could blame Jen for this latest addiction! She has brought me from my first $25.00 for markers to marker # 260 or so…. I’d say that’s past an addiction.

Copic Class Lesson 7

Lesson 7 was an extension of coloring clothing. The design we used came from the Pixie Dust Studio (google it). We referred to shadows but touched back on shapes. When you see this digi, you will identify different shapes. Here is my attempt: Lisa’s critique:

You definately have the right idea about the light source. Your blending needs to be smoother. I can see each individual color as a ring of color on the dress. Focus your darkest color in the points of the triangles and at the bottom of the dress. If you had one more lighter or darker color this would help you as well. You are getting there:)

Mama’s attempt:

Lisa’s critique: The highlight is good but, needs a darker color for the shadow or shading to make it pop. Focus your blending on the last third of your previous color to obtain more smoothness.

Copic Class Lesson 6

Lesson 6 was on coloring clothes and our first digi was soooo hard to color! Here is my first attempt and her critique:

The critquing: Your color choice for the yellows is great! There is very little contrast between the colors. I am not seeing a highlight in your dress. Also, your light source is from the side but, she is colored this from an overhead light source perspective. If you wanted to achieve a side light source. The right side of her dress would have more shadowing than the left side of her dress. You did a good job in placing the shadow underneath, her arms, hair, and basket:) I am guessing you over blended this. If you have time, try again, using the MFB technique and reserve your area for a highlight.

Paula’s 2nd attempt:

Lisa’s critique: The red one is very pretty. You are getting the shading in the rightareas just not enough of it. Love the smoothness of the blending and color gradiation.
